Sirk TV Comic Review: DARK WEB - THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN #17 [Marvel]

The context of limbo is existing in a world where all is heightened and everything is out to kill you. In “Dark Web: The Amazing Spider-Man #17”, Peter, trapped in the netherworld, is just biding his time trying to understand what Ben, his clone, who brought him to this world wants him to learn (or rather to torture him for). The irony (and actually the elative part of it) is watching Jameson being bullied by a bunch of monsters to be a bully. The images do geta little “Beetlejuiced” when Peter gets back to his apartment in limbo, especially a sleeping bed with a tongue. As Parker says, the name of the game is patience. What is really cool is the noir creature pathos of this limbo which between the color palettes and the motivations of the monsters gives it an off kilter but dark refreshing feel, especially with one monster that wants to do good but the excuses of the world he is based in come out a little mangled. B+
