IR TV Review: NAUTILUS - EPISODE 7 (“Cold War”)[AMC]

After the context of mythology with the previous episode, Episode 7 of "Nautilus" entitled "Cold War" takes ojn a more practical but slightly sideways approach to the battle that is being fought both inside and outside the walls of the submarine. The episode begins in Antarctica and one can see the thought with Humility Lucas and this is the episode that requires her to make a choice. This episode is more about character choices than anything else. The crews of the Dreadnought and the Nautilus have to actually meet face to face and, in a distinctly British approach, it comes down to a game of cricket which might lose some American audiences but shows that these two crews are not as different as one might think. Now granted this series was originally built with Disney+ in mind but this is something that plays almost too foreign for American audiences of anything in the series.

Now, that said, it offers the best connection point and illustration between Nemo and his former best friend Billy, who means to destroy him. It creates hesitation which is wonderful in the context of tension. In the same breath, Humility and her handmaid of sorts begin to see what they are up against back in the real world. And a decision needs to be made. However we see in many ways that things might not turn out for the best the longer time goes on. Too many lines have been crossed and people are dying. "Nautilus" in that way continues to have stakes and shows the darkness and evilness of men when confronted with ego and power. Some throttle points are too hard to overcome for some people (despite their inherent want to do so). Now it becomes a matter of survival and who can survive the longest without completing losing their reason for the action in the first place. B
