IR TV Review: HOUSE OF THE DRAGON - EPISODE 6 [HBO-S3]
The issue right now with "House Of The Dragon" is that it is getting too much into the politics and not enough into the cinematic. Even "Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms" knows exactly what it needs to be. Perhaps it is impossible to make "Game Of Thrones" as it was before but "House" right now is lacking an edge to become a shadow. Granted the first episode of the season was fantastic but it seems that is where all the money disappeared too. The Dragons are laying in wait right now. Now granted if that is because the powder keg will explode in a rage of gore, it is losing itself along the way.
It is understood within the hierarchy of the who is where but the rabble rousing on the field with characters that fans don’t care enough about is damaging the structure. Daemon and Rhaenyra are biding their darker nature. And the only other aspect that feels dynamic is the witch and a certain other heir. But it needs to get to it. The guerillas on the battlefield as well as the new dragon keepers are simply waiting. You even have someone like Dan Fogler who could be a really interesting performance if there is some subterfuge but he is just sitting there. Even Allicent gets blocked mostly. We know there is a story there but beyond the slow build, something needs to happen beyond pondering. Granted that is what is spoken of at the end of the episode but it is a matter if it follows through. 71%/C+
