IR TV Review: CROSS - EPISODE 4 [Prime-S2]

After the first three episodes of Season 2 of Cross, the implementation of the pursuit that Cross has undertaken takes a turn of interesting magnitude. What is interesting this season so far is Jeanine Marie Mason as the antagonist because her focus and goals have a nefarious bent to them is the pursuit but other see her as an angel. In Episode 4, he suspect that Cross and Kayla Craig (Alona Tai) have pursued redirects to a different spot and that relationship with Mason takes up most of the episode and really shifts the dynamic in a certain and powerful way. They are poised for a cause that seems very prevalent in today's headlines so their fervor seems less vicious than visceral and yet it is still outside the law.

Craig and Cross head out of their comfort zone down to Florida and a lot of the action takes place inside a casino (nice hark back to the "Las Vegas" TV series. Now granted certain leftovers from the previous episode in terms of romantic interests integrate but one new one that comes up does really provide the stakes (while another comes off a little soapy). The reality is that they come closer to identification but not the reasoning. The protagonist is becoming more brazen but she is also showing her empathy, which again bodes well for the complicated nature of resolution of Series Two where this eventually has to go. But for this episode, focusing on the other side does the narrative well while still keeping the tension on in the back of our minds. B+
