The aspect of any Ridley Scott film has to do with control, perspective and shift. Sometimes, in recent memory, his films have gone wayward losing themselves more in the concept than the arch of the story. With “The Dog Stars” there is more an efficiency of path, which was probably dictated by the novel but its efficiency and baseline element explored in the pace give it a much more organic progression than say “Gladiator 2” which was much more meandering.

The aspect of "Frankenstein" is that it is always integrated with the point that these two characters: Victor and the Monster will always be linked. Writer/Director Guillermo Del Toro brings a slightly different energy to the proceedings but one cannot help but see certain extrapolations and tendencies with comparison to Kenneth Branagh's "Frankenstein" back in the mid-1990s .The motivations here are more realistic but almost less gothic in certain ways.

After "Promising Young Woman", writer/director Emerald Fennell had some big shoes to fill. That film was subversive and a big swing, especially with its ending. It is the same with Fennell's new film "Saltburn" though it does take the same horror/thriller spin but with a much more devious character.
